The Rescue Kit is a browser-local editor. It does not send your character descriptions, conversation excerpts or memory notes to our servers or an AI model.

Who operates When You Call?

ELEGENT TREASURE LIMITED, incorporated with limited liability, operates this service. When You Call is the consumer brand; this page gives the operator name for privacy and support questions.

If you email us, we handle your address, message and delivery metadata to respond. The support mailbox is hosted by Dynadot. Please do not email private Rescue Notes, passwords or sign-in details. Where applicable, you can use this address to ask about access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information. The Director is responsible for privacy and support requests at this address. Our approved policy limits ordinary support email to 90 days after case closure, with monthly cleanup and necessary lawful exceptions. Provider-controlled logs and backups follow the provider's retention arrangements.

What happens to your notes?

While the editor is open, its text lives in your browser's current page. You can download JSON or plain-text copies to your own device, and reopen a JSON file. A local UTF-8 TXT can be previewed and explicitly adopted without uploading it. Optional character links are saved as references and never fetched. We do not automatically save your text to our database, localStorage or a cloud account. Closing or reloading the page can lose unsaved work.

Language preference

Only after you choose a language, we store its language code in your browser as wyc_locale. We do not store notes or drafts. Clear this preference through your browser's site-data settings. If storage is blocked, the language URL still works. Browser-language detection uses your browser's language list, not IP geolocation.

English export journey

Alongside the language preference above, the English journey offers a separate, optional task-status marker. It is off until you choose to remember progress. It stores only the chosen step and self-reported request, waiting and receipt flags under wyc.cai.progress.v1. Clear it using Clear my progress on the guide or your browser's site-data controls. It contains no request dates, names, files or chat text, and does not sync across devices.

Calendar checks are generated locally for dates you confirm. Your calendar provider handles imported events and notifications. This website cannot confirm or cancel those notifications. Delete the events in your calendar to stop them.

The optional experimental structure check reads a file you select in a bounded local Worker. It neither imports your chats nor uploads the original. Reports contain allowlisted types and broad count ranges, with no original filenames, values or identifiers. Downloading a report is local; review it before sharing it yourself. No diagnostic upload or research-sample collection service is enabled.

Are files encrypted?

No. Downloaded JSON and TXT files are readable text, not encrypted vaults. Store them securely and avoid sharing them without reviewing their contents.

What about normal website access?

This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare delivers the website and can process standard connection metadata such as your IP address, request time and page path to operate and protect the service. The preview responses also include Cloudflare network-error reporting headers; supporting browsers may send network diagnostic reports to Cloudflare. These are distinct from the contents of your private editor, which are not sent to the host by the Rescue Kit. This website currently includes no analytics SDK, advertising tracker or embedded third-party form in the private editor. We do not track your activity across other websites over time or embed third-party cross-site advertising trackers. Do Not Track (DNT) signals do not change those practices or disable hosting and security metadata processing.

Early access

Early access registration is not currently connected. If registration later opens, it will be separate from your private notes, with independent disclosure and optional marketing consent. You will not be required to upload your conversations.

What about Character.AI?

The export guide links to the original platform's published instructions. We never ask you to disclose your source-site password, session cookie or tokens.

Use the support address above for a privacy question or request. We will update this page when the service's processing or contact arrangements change. This page describes the current free Rescue Kit; Early Access remains closed and does not collect applications. We announce material policy changes on this page with a revised effective date before they apply. If applicable law requires additional notice or consent, we provide it before the new processing.
